Prayer isn’t an easy walk

Becoming engaged in prayer, as I first read in the likes of Zizioulas, isn’t a set of requests and praises but a progressive quieting of that self I am to become denuded of.

“Knowledge: to lose awareness of oneself through going out to God in ecstasy.”  –   St. Diadochos of Photiki

Using my tongue to explain my walk with God rather than simply letting you observe and attempt those things I’m doing for yourself, let’s say, inhibits our actually walking the walk. This is what Zizioulas in “Being as Communion” and St. Diadochosof Photiki in “On Spiritual Knowledge and Discrimination” were saying.
